Edited by: Midas Man on 02/04/2009 10:33:31 The high end pirate implants come from Pirate 0.0 space.
I used to deal with them a while ago as a few large 0.0 alliance used to come into Jita dump them on my cheap buy order, I would then sell them in a week for anywhere from 25%-100% mark up depending on competition.
I got greedy and spoke to a few regular sellers trying to push my purchase price down further, A few weeks later i noticed sell prices dropping my buy orders were not filling and when i check my competition it was the same people i was after a cheap deal from.
In contacting them I highlighted the potential extra profit they could be making (if someone was willing to spend 10-20 bill a week for them there must be a market)
I suspect that the allaince(s) now use multiple people to make sure they are best priced all the time.
try undercutting with 1 item then as soon as they undercut you place another on the market at 0.01isk less, When i did this after the second item went up my competition also listed an Item 0.01isk less, this continued until an empty market turned into a flooded market.
This was over a year ago and things might have changed in that market but i suspect you are fighting and organisatation with more Isk, more people to monitor markets and a comptitor that is the major source of the items.
I would suggest looking for other items to trade and watch the implant markets over a few months you will soon see when to buy and when to sell, but it does mean keeping capital tied up for long periods and so leaves you at risk of the infamous nerf bat, but diversify well and you should profit elsewhere when the nerf bat hits.
eg Snake sets lost me a bit of money but crystals and slave sets increased in price and over all i was still up. (inregards to the speed changes)

Did you even read my post. I guess not. I've been involved in these markets for getting on 4 years. I don't mean to be rude, but form your post, I would guess you dabbled for a short time, and drew some false conclusions about what was going on there.
You dont sound rude.
I did read your post.
IMO Nothing you said sounded like a bot.
You have been in the market for 4 years so you are fully aware of the cost of the implants compared to the sell price in Jita and that you could also generate a profit selling straight to buy orders if you got them from LP store?
0.0 alliances that "farm" pirate missions for LP will often drop numerous sets on the jita market. and with the limited demand it takes a while for these sell.
When i was into trading them regular i was picking up 10 or more sets a week usually from 2 suppliers who sold to my Buy orders.
After contacting both parties to strike a deal I was faced with much heavier competition selling them and was unable to get many on buy orders.
I bought off my new competitor and it was the same character that was previously selling to my buy orders.
If i was trying to take control of the market and could satisfy the majority of the demand. I would .01isk cut untill well below buy order price in this market knowing I will still make a profit selling them.
If my conclusions are false in this respect I have no idea what else was going on.
But how posative are you that your competitor is a bot. Go ahead and put a sell order up for anything in jita and watch how the price drops if you keep dropping your price. Most traders want to trade now and will sell at a loss to move the isk into more profitable endevours.
If you were being undercutt every 5 mins with out fail I would agree you may have a bot, but 5-8 min spread sounds like you got someone like Armoured C competing with you ready to cut price as soon as you have

Actually it is called a limit order........... Most of the world has them.
We are playing in a fictional setting in space, even if it wasn't fictional the world is a tiny spec in that space and hence most of the world having them isnt significant.
